Two divisions of Grades 6-8th and 9-12th

OPEN to submissions, December 1, 2019.

Pieces should be submitted no later than Jan. 31, 2020 to WritingContest@northloganlibrary.org with the author's real name (no pseudonyms), grade/age, school, and email contact on the first page, top left corner.

Winners will be selected by judges including local authors and announced March 6th.

Creative writing projects of any genre are welcome EXCEPT fan-fiction for copyright reasons. Entries can be fantasy, sci-fi, flash-fiction, historical fiction, fiction, or a non-fiction and suitable for audiences of all ages.

Submissions should not contain explicit language or actions, no explicit violence, sexual content or vulgar content. Library staff reserves the right to disqualify such entries.

Limit for all genres is 2,000 words, double-spaced, 12 pt. font.

Stories should be stand-alone, not single chapters of a longer work.

Stories can feature characters of any age.

A nonfiction story or essay of 1,500 words or less, 12 pt. will be featured in the Herald Journal.

1st Place prizes will be Chromebook Laptops, 2nd-3rd places will receive Amazon Fire 7's.
